Marathon Effort for Spires Cleft Centre

A photo of Steve and his niece, presenting his fundraising cheque to staff at Salisbury hospital.

Huge thanks to Steve Longley who completed the 2023 London Marathon to raise an incredible £1,000 for The Spires Cleft Centre. Steve completed this amazing challenge on behalf of his 9 year old niece who has 22q Deletion Syndrome (formerly DiGeorge Syndrome). This resourceful little girl has been known to us since she was 3 years old, tirelessly engaging in speech therapy and undergoing three operations on the path towards clear speech. Her family, her school friends, and all the team here at Salisbury are enjoying seeing her cheeky personality and confidence emerge now she is truly finding her voice.

Steve’s donation will help us support more children with unclear speech, providing ‘extra mile’ resources to help make their experience of hospital stays and appointments the best they can be. Thanks, Steve!
